One of the most famous female composers ever, Cecile Chaminade studied with Godard at the Conservatoire. Chaminade had her recital debut at the age 18 to great critical acclaim. Chaminade started her career as a composer by writing a number of major works, including an orchestral suite, a Symphonie Dramatique, Les Amazones, Concertstück for piano and orchestra and an opéra comique. Later, Chaminade devoted her works almost exclusively to piano compositions and songs. Chaminade was considered a formidable pianist. Chaminade tours took her all over Europe and the USA.
