Jean Baptiste Loeillet short biography

Jean Baptiste Loeillet was an important harpsichordist, oboist, flautist and composer. Loeillet introduced and popularized the transverse flute in England. Loeillet was a very productive composer, writing music for the English-type keyboard instruments, many solo and trio sonatas. Loeillet who was a proponent of the Italian style compositions, transformed a conservative, contrapuntal style for recorder and oboe to more galant and expressive technique for flute.
