Francois-Joseph  Gossec

An outstanding composer, teacher and music administrator, François-Joseph Gossec played a very important role in the development of the French symphony. Rameau who admired Gossec, introduced the young composer to the fermier-général Le Riche de La Pouplinière who became Gossec’s patron. Gossec enjoyed a recognition of a fashionable teacher in Paris and was a founder of the Conservatoire.
